Only staying for two nights and both hotels look great. Just not sure if St. James is worth the extra $$$. thxTraveling to Montreal and can't decide between Hotel L St. James and Intercontinental. Any thoughs?
The St-James is a nicer hotel if you don't mind paying more. Madonna stayed there when she was in town.Traveling to Montreal and can't decide between Hotel L St. James and Intercontinental. Any thoughs?
I have stayed at the intercontinental. No problems there.
I have never stayed at the St James.
I guess this all depends on what you are planning to do in Montreal. Both hotels have wonderful locations. Though the St. James Hotel seems to be more in the heart of Old Montreal.
So, if you were planning to spend a lot of time in Old Montreal and/or you want the feeling of living in another time, spend the extra cash. But you were planning to go out a little bit (particularly if you were planning to experience the nightlife on Crescent or St. Laurent), go for the Intercontinental.
Firstly, check tripadvisor.com and see what other people who have stayed at either place have to say. But, being a Montrealer, I have to say that there's so much to do in this fine city that you won't be spending THAT much time in your hotel.
The biggest deciding factor, should be what you want to do. If you're the clubbing type, find something downtown. If you want to sightsee Old Montreal %26amp; the areas around it, then choose something there (be warned, we have a bi-weekly fireworks display that's held a stone's throw from there and it gets LOUD (I live on the other side of Mt Royal %26amp; can still hear it)). Personally, I would not stay in Old Montreal because the costs are so exhorbitant in that area and they really do take advantage of tourists.
